In later adventures, MacAlistaire meets up (well, via a flashback story) with the cast of Neil the Horse, a sadly underappreciated book by Arn Saba. Journey is a tremendous piece of work, and one I'm amazed hasn't been optioned for film or TV yet. It's as far from superheroes as you can get, and I think it could appeal to a great many people. The book features one of my favorite jokes about sex. MacAlistaire meets up with an indian woman whose tribe refers to the act of physical love as "laughing". When he asks why, she explains, "What else can you call something that looks so ridiculous and feels so good?"Bill Loebs isn't afraid to make his subplots small and simple. One features MacAlistaire agree to carry a mysterious package across the country. The issue where it's delivered, it makes the cover. And while its contents might seem a letdown to the wham-bang demands of a modern reader, in context it's perfectly logical. The ending of the series too is touching and wonderfully underplayed. Well worth a look for anyone.

I loved this series when it first came out, and thoroughly enjoyed this TPB. Too bad it doesn't contain the covers. WM-L is an excellent writer and cartoonist, and deserves more/better recognition than he gets.

Journey is a terrific series. It's really too bad that due to health reasons, he won't be completing the Journey: WAR DRUMS mini-series (that has only 2 issues to date).Bummer.

I could never get into "Journey" on a monthly basis, and i was/am too impatient to collect up several months at a time.I knew, even at the time, that i was prolly missing Something Good – i'll have a go at this book when i can afford it (or the library gets it).
