Let’s be fair; superman may have started wearing his underpants on the outside of his tights first, but it took Madonna to make it fashionable. Don’t get me started on that cross-dressing poof “Peter Pan”…

Ralph and Sue Dibny did, and look how well it turned out for them.

For what it’s worth, none of the four superhero costumes I’ve designed–three male, one female–have capes. And the female one is a neck-to-ankles body stocking with no cleavage, no bare midriff and no exposed derriere.
The men do all have the trunks on the outside, though, I guess because it’s part of the superhero-costume thing.
I think it’s been interesting to watch the evolution of the Huntress’ costume over the last 30 years. The original Joe Staton-designed Helena Wayne outfit was completely impractical for any kind of strenuous activity (Jerry Ordway seems to have toned it down a bit for the recent Justice Society of America Annual). Helena Bertinelli’s first costume, also designed by Staton, was a slightly less-ridiculous version of that outfit and eventually she ended up with something that offered protection. Someone redesigned her with a bare-midriff costume a few years back, but that didn’t last long and now she’s back in her mostly-black, “No Man’s Land”-period costume. Purple trim is about all that’s left from the original scanty design.

At least everyone doesn’t have all those damn pouches everywhere anymore like they did in the ’90s…

Fashion accessories? I can barely afford the basics, let alone even think about buying accessories. For the last 3 years I have been buying 10 or less comic books a week because I just can't spend any more money than that on comics. I know I am missing some good stuff, but I'm just not able to but any more.Fashion accessories? Feh!

Well, come on, I'm talking about earrings around the $5 range. Even cheaper, from what I hear, as my supervisor and another coworker today threate– I mean, promised to take me accessory-shopping soon at a wholesale place in midtown…
