Ed Brubaker, for the most part, refuses to play the crossover game. Daredevil and Captain America are mostly stand alone series set in the Marvel Universe. I really wish Peter David would demand the same for X-Factor, but he agrees to do the crossovers because of the increase in readership a crossover brings.

I heard Matt Fraction talk about this, and that Marvel lets writers skip out on events, but there are tons of incentives to get involved. So I can understand why it happens. But it is legitimately frustrating, especially on this book that has had more crossover issues than non-crossover issues of late.

I can only speak for myself, but when I was buying comics I did buy crossover titles — however, I wasn't happy about it. I'm a Punisher fan, but I'm annoyed that he resurfaced during Civil War, got dragged into World War Hulk, and is probably killing Skrulls now. Can't we go back to crossovers occuring only in the Annuals?

Just want to agree about the Stroman art on X-Factor – it's awful and will kill the book if it continues. Bad bad bad. Loved the Layla issue and I hope she get back into the main book soon!
