I really loved this show, and I love how the new comics are capturing the magic of the original series. It's a shame Disney didn't go through with their plans of "Gargoyles" being their marvel or DC universe equivalent. Hopefully these new comics (and their spin-offs) continue so that we can see this dream come true.

I completely agree. Before this interview, I had no idea that's what it was actually mandated to be. I mean, you got the sense that it could turn into that, what with the spin-off possibilities, but I was still think of all those stories as Gargoyle centric. The idea that it could've been the cartoon equivalent to FF#1 really blew my head. We could've had something great evolve.I really hope sales do well enough to allow TIMEDANCER to become its own spin-off series.

Really interesting interview. I didn't know there was a new comic out, it sounds great. Did it just start? If not, is there a trade of the early issues?

The comic's been out for a while. It's by Slave Labor Graphics (www[dot]slgcomic[dot]com) There is a trade paperback out containing the first six issues of "Gargoyles". There are also three (of six) issues of a mini-series called "Gargoyles:Bad Guys".

I personally think time travel stories get a bit weird. I love Brooklyn, but Timedancer seems like a strange idea to me.

I'm sure many thought the same for some of the other ideas that came into Gargoyles, such as King Arthur and clone warriors. Give it a chance and see what you think afterwards.

I remember even when the show premiered, Disney didn't promote it that much. No merchandise at the Disney Store. People kept going to the Warner Bros. store thinking the show was made by the people who did Batman: The Animated Series.

    • Alan Kistler says:

Yeah, it definitely could've done with more marketing. I also think some of the commercials weren't clear that this was a fairly mature series and not just something akin to Tail Spin or DuckTales (not that I didn't love those shows, but you get my drift).

To bad they dont restart the show agian! I would personally like to see the Dark Ages, you know when all of the wyverin clan was still alive and possibly have it when Hudson was in charge and Goliath his second in command. I like the Dark Age theme because they would then get to use swords and spears. Pretty cool I think. I am not to much into futuristic stuff as much, but I am sure that it would be pretty cool either way.
