ROM, Spaceknight in ’08
Well, I don’t need to watch a single campaign speech for the rest of the season, folks. I now have my candidate.
Over at ISB, Chris outlines why the spaceknight from Galador is the right person for the job.
While I can’t speak for the rest of the ComicMix crew and their political leanings, I can say that the ability to find, detect and banish Dire Wraiths is a pretty big part of Rom’s appeal to me as a voter. I mean, a lot of candidates claim they can solve the health care crisis and fix the looming social security dilemma, but how much can they really do about either of those issues in the current political environment?
Rom, on the other hand, has a proven record when it comes to protecting the Earth from evil creatures bent on subjugating its inhabitants. He’s led the planet’s mightiest heroes into battle, yet always yearned for peace as a final outcome.
Heck, I hear he’s already picked up at least one endorsement.
So my mind’s made up, folks. Rom is my candidate of choice in ’08. Now to figure out my choice for a running mate — maybe a certain war-hero beagle, perhaps?
On a related note, I received the following photo from a former coworker who, upon seeing this Rom-themed art table in his local comics shop, remembered my obsession affinity for the character. (Thanks, Mike!)
I’m told that there is a bunch of other handmade, comics-themed art available at the shop, so if anyone happens to end up in the vicinity of Detroit Comics in Ferndale, MI,keep in mind that my birthday is just a few months away, okay? I could really use a table exactly like that one.
If only ROM were eligible, but there's still that pesky requirement that a candidate for President of the United States be an American-born citizen.
