    Word of mouth has it that DC was forced to bring the character back prior to it's copyright expiration as Stan Lee was planning to use Barry Allen as the anchor for the superhero team he's creating for Virgin Comics(!) :)

    I'm still of the opinion that it's Bart in the lightning rod that Brainiac 5 took back to the 31st Century with him. Bart got weasled – he wasn't ready to become the Flash, and they pushed him into it, and he paid the price.

    Poor planning on DC's part but does the regular public even care? They knew Flash from cartoon but regular people don't know Jay, Barry, or Wally.
