Torchwood has already been a bit of a moveable beast. The characters went through quite a change between seasons 1 and 2. At the producers admission, they spent so much time in the backbiting and angry sex, the characters were passably unlikable. They all got softened quite a bit, Tosh so much that she's a love-starved puppy, following Owen around, burying her chin in her chest (and risking getting smothered) as she passes. I liked the "new" Martha – she seemed YEARS older, more mature and in control. I think she could carry the show. With Ianto at her side, it could be a good change.I hear dthe Robert Carlyle rumor a couple months ago, so this may just be the same story coming around again. But considering we saw Rose in the teaser that appeared in UK theaters, that bit seems to be the emis.

But, there are certain elements of the article that are factually incorrect. As of this moment, they are still filming Season 4, not the specials. There are to be three specials, not two. They haven't even considered starting on the 2008 Christmas special, let alone considered the 2009 one. David Tennant cannot be leaving within two weeks when he finishes filming the final moments of the 2009 Christmas Special if he has not begun it, or the 2008 one, for that matter. If the source has been reliable in the past, it has seemingly failed to maintain this, here.

Complete sh**. These rumours are completely false and anybody who believes them are twits. I have a friend who works with the Torchwood crew and there is NO cast change.

Nearly all the characters are dead :/Jack's gone, Gwen's pregnant, the Hub's blown up hell, even their SUV is probably a burnt out wreck down by Merther Tydfil I think it Torchwood might be over :/

I dont really agree with that.
There are still a lot of things we do not know about Captain Jack and so i cant really see him leaving.
I would love to see Freema and James join the permantent cast in replacement of Burn and Naoko but again, i really dont think that will happen. Who knows?
I would love to also see some new talent on the shows. These characters could spark major story lines… depending on the character of course.
I also agree with the comment above. For that is almost certain proof.
Im glad they wont change the cast; I dont think we are ready for it yet.

I don’t think Jack will leave, John Barrowman said they are going to film series 3 and 4 of Torchwood back-to-back so he could fit it in as well as starring in a West End musical. So he is definitely in 3 and 4.
As for replacements for Tosh and Owen, I think Martha might come back full-time, but, then again, what about her job with UNIT? She’s doing very well over there.. Any other ideas?

My friends and I watch Torchwood primary for Captain Jack. We really enjoy his character as he is dashing, over the top and a hero. I personally would not watch Torchwood for Gwen Cooper who is a weak and wimp character. She would not last 2 days on the force as a cop in America. Martha is good for playing a 2nd in command character but not as a lead especially for this show… sorry… If John is gone, so are we.

How dissapointing was it when Burn and Naoko were killed off? Extremely! If they also remove John from the team I can't see this show up for another run after series 3. Also, I hate to say this, but I really just don't like Martha Jones all that much and if she does join the team I may have some trouble getting used to her. Anyway.. Jack's gotta stay along with Gwen and Ianto. Add some NEW faces we haven't seen before! OR Rose.. hehe.

Martha Jones was going to be in Series 3 but then the actress got a job on Survivors

You should have noticed the line about Martha Jones being off on her honeymoon during Series 3.
Whether she can also do Series 4 alongside Survivors is another question.
I can’t see Series 4 without Captain Jack. I wonder if his disappearance at the end of Series 3 is a precursor for his appearing in the final David Tennant Doctor Who special?
