Brubaker had an interesting comment about the media and the action line-driven story writing. Interviewers would ask him about the gun, and Ed would calmly explain that Cap often used a gun, even machine guns and flamethrowers on the covers back in WWII, this is just a new character with a new strategy. They'd then write their stories and go on about Cap has "never" used a gun before, and that part of the interview just vanished. He found this surprising. The run has been very impressive, and I look forward to seeing more.

Of course the story of Cap's "resurrection" got a lot of press coverage. It's a "patriotic" story. The Mass Media are all about "patriotism". Note the pre-game for the Stupor Bowl on Faux. A mass reading of patriotic material, a get-out-the-vote campaign (which is usually the domain of more Liberal voices). They even had the cliche of the jets flying over the stadium during the National Anthem, which I more than suspect was merely on tape. It's all about promoting "patriotism".
