Heath Ledger Found Dead – Updated
MSNBC and TMZ.com are reporting that actor Heath Ledger was found dead in a Manhattan apartment today. Prescription pills were found at the scene of his death.
Ledger, who was scheduled to appear in this summer’s Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight, was also nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in Brokeback Mountain.
He had a two-year old daughter with actress Michelle Williams, with whom he co-starred in Brokeback Mountain.
UPDATE: Police are now stating that the actor’s death appears to be a suicide. While media sources originally reported that the apartment in which Ledger was found belonged to actress Mary-Kate Olsen, a spokesperson for Olsen has now denied this report.
As sad as that is – I expect somewhere in Hollywood – someone is relieved that CGI has gotten so sophisticated.
Principle photography is completed on The Dark Knight, and combine that with how the filmakers were able to complete The Crow following Brandon Lee's death, which at the time principle photography was not completed, I'm confident that this won't affect the completion of The Dark Knight.Having said all that, it's truly a shame that this happened. I'm already seeing comments fly about what Warner Bros will do with any potential sequels featuring the Joker, and who could play the now-vacant role, but for me, I'm focusing on how weird watching The Dark Knight will be this summer. It'll be just like watching the previously mentioned The Crow all over again.Truly a shame for someone so young and talented…
At least Jack Nicholson will stop bitching for a while.Maybe.
Have we actually SEEN Jack's Bucket List?
Well, that's sensitive. I assume Jack's bucket list is something like The Aristocrats.
That's William Shanter's job.
According to the "analysts" on CNN right now, they are currently blaming the alleged suicide on the darkness of the new Joker character. And that as methodical as an actor that Ledger was, he may have taken home part of the Joker's character. As constantly threatened, the media is planning putting comic books on trial…why can't they leave us alone???
He was a tremendous talent, with a real flair for comedy. I loved him in 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU and A KNIGHT'S TALE. And he's just amazing in I'M NOT THERE.
I keep intending to see Knight's Tale but haven't gotten around to it… I hear it's a fun film. I thought he was great in Lords of Dogtown. everyone in that film was great, actually – but he was REALLY exceptional.
This is the time of year with the most suicides. Many people feel the drop after the holidays and it's grim and dark outside, and they can't handle it. The NBC news said he was found by his housekeeper, in his house.
With him naked and barbs spilled all over the floor. If it's suicide (as opposed to an unintentional overdose) it's a sloppy way to do it.Not that I'm giving advice. There are plenty of websites for that.
He made shit look good. I remember in 95 or 96 watching an ad for Roar thinking it was "Braveheart meets Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" and discovered that it was a decently written show. It deserved to be canceled after 15 episodes, but Heath Ledger was everything a leading man should be. I rewatched Roar last year, and realized that Legder will become the next sean connery. Sadly, today he has become the new James Dean.I hope his daughter is ok through all of this. As a parent myself, I can't imagine leaving my daughter behind. I just can't.
Very sad……..too much….too fast………You never know if tomorrow will come, so appreciate your blessings each and every day. The last pictures taken of Heath and more information on http://www.whyfame.com R.I.P.
