Der Fuhrer Vas A Timelord?
Ever say something that seemed funny to you but wasn’t quite… right?
According to the London Daily Post, at a screening of today’s Christmas special "Voyage of the Damned," Doctor Who executive producer Russell T. Davies suggested Adolf Hitler might have been a timelord.
For a few, the line was funny. But for most, perhaps recalling Hitler’s V-2 bombings of their nation and the thousands and thousands of their countrymen killed, it was too soon. When asked who could have played the role, Davies responded tongue-in-cheek: "Hitler. He was stern and strong. He would be great."
Oops.
Current Who David Tennant appeared "slightly stunned" and declined to answer the same question.
Yes, it is still too soon to make light of Hitler.
Jeez, don't tell Mel Brooks.
Or John Cleese.
or Will Smith.
… or Bruce Jay Friedman.
no way! it has been over 40 years!!! definatly late enough and anyone who thinks otherwise is either stupid or american
No doubt about it, comedy is dangerous.Wasn't it just a couple of years ago that Prince William got into trouble wearing a Nazi uniform to a costume ball? It's okay to make Hitler look silly or goofy. But to suggest him as a heroic character, even in jest? Not for another 40 years, at least.
When it came to Hitler, I think Prince William had a bit of a family problem. Since that problem gave him his crown, perhaps he was perceived as a bit ungrateful.Better he should have dressed as Stalin. Or a Dalek.
It was Prince Harry, actually: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/4170635….
Well, before one weighs the seriousness of Mr. Davies' comment, just remember this is the man who claims the Royal Family are lycanthropes. But if it was true, did this mean the Russians arrived in Berlin in time to see Hitler regenerate? Naw, that can't be true because everyone knows that The Human Torch fried him in his tracks. :)
The Royal Family are lycanthropes? Hmmm… with all due respect, that would explain a lot.I think the Queen came off rather well in this Tueday's Doctor Who special. She didn't seem at all wolvie…
A villainous Time Lord like the Master or The Rani, no doubt.
