DENNIS O’NEIL: Plugging No-Face

Dennis O'Neil

Dennis O'Neil was born in 1939, the same year that Batman first appeared in Detective Comics. It was thus perhaps fated that he would be so closely associated with the character, writing and editing the Dark Knight for more than 30 years. He's been an editor at Marvel and DC Comics. In addition to Batman, he's worked on Spider-Man, Daredevil, Iron Man, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern/Green Arrow, the Question, The Shadow and more. O'Neil has won every major award in the industry. His prose novels have been New York Times bestsellers. Denny lives in Rockland County with his wife, Marifran.

Speaking of caveats… Working with you and artist Denys Cowan on The Question was one of the proudest professional experiences of my life. I'm damn glad to see this trade paperback come out, and I'm jealous that DC comped you.

I'll say. Collected Editions doesn't even comp me on the stuff I worked on any more. Feel lucky.

I'm eagerly awaiting my copy, despite already owning the whole series! Thanks for writing (and Mr. Gold — thanks for editing!) the Question and changing my view on comic books forever….

I wonder how Mr. Oneil would feel if the tpb was printed on the current glossy paper? Personally, I would prefer it: the recent Power Girl trade that had her latest miniseries along with issues of DC Presents looked incredible. Those 70's issues just popped on that glossy paper stock. I know this is unlikely as DC seems to print all their trades containing the older material on the non-glossy paper. oould Mr. Oneil (and other readers here) prefer that as it's closer to how the original issues looked?
