Septimus Heap: Magyk to the big screen

Martha Thomases

Martha Thomases brought more comics to the attention of more people than anyone else in the industry. Her work promoting The Death of Superman made an entire nation share in the tragedy of one of our most iconic American heroes. As a freelance journalist, she has been published in the Village Voice, High Times, Spy, the National Lampoon, Metropolitan Home, and more. For Marvel comics she created the series Dakota North. Martha worked as a researcher and assistant for the author Norman Mailer on several of his books, including the Pulitzer-Prize-winning Executioner's Song, On Women and Their Elegance, Ancient Evenings, and Harlot's Ghost.

Any attempt to find "the next Harry Potter" will be met with failure. The next hot kids book will come from a new source, and will in a new genre. The Potter books were a true left-field job, only whipped into a frenzy with book four onward. I don't think we'll see something that big in a while.I'm hoping the Artemis Fowl books make it to the screen, myself. That kid in the Nancy Drew movie and License to Wed is my new "go-to" child actor (I also think he oughta be Spritle in Speed Racer) now that Spencer Breslin is too old.
