Martha Jones to chase Captain Jack?
Over at Doctor Who, Martha Jones, the tenth Doctor’s second companion, is getting tired of unrequited love. Next season, she’s starting to look at everybody’s favorite object of lust, Torchwood‘s Captain Jack Harkness.
It seems Captain Jack has been working his sexual magic on the latest companion. According to the London Daily Mirror, when the 30th season of Doctor Who goes up next year, Martha will not be in all episodes – but will pick up the slack by appearing in a number of episodes of Torchwood. A new companion will join the cast of the former series, and Martha will not be in this year’s Christmas special. However, singer Kylie Minogue will co-star in the latter event.
The 29th season of Doctor Who ends in Britain tomorrow with the last of the three-part battle with The Master (John Simm, star of Life On Mars). This season is already being broadcast in many parts of the world, including Australia and Canada; it goes up in the United States on the SciFi Network a week from today.
If you haven't been checking out the new Doctor Who, you are missing some great SF. The effects (long a running joke in thes series) are exemplary, and it amazes me how much advance plot they put in what is still branded a children's show. Just another example of how much more credit other countries give their children, while we happily assume our kids are made of sugar-glass and will be destroyed by anything they see on telly.John Barrowman just *sparkles* when he's on camera. That smile of his…he's on both my and my wife's "it's okay" list, If you know what I mean (and I think you do). Call me crazy, but he'd work as Captain Marvel. Here come the drums, here come the drums…
Which one?
For a second I thought you meant "which Doctor" but I was referring to DC's Captain Marvel, he of the Gomer Pyleian catchphrase.
Ah! You mean Fred MacMurray. Yeah, I think Barrowman would be great in The Caine Mutiny.
You should bear in mind that there are people in the US who haven’t seen the latest season of Dr. Who and therefore had no idea the Master had return. I had no idea the Master had returned! So much for spoiler alerts.
*sigh*.
Just to save some time…
The ship sinks
She’s a man
It’s a sled
The samurai is immortal, and he’s the big bad
It’s the door on the left
She decides to stay an ogre
She was her daughter AND her sister.
And oddly enough, those are all spoilers for OLD stuff, not NEW stuff. Although I must say I still don’t get the "daughter/sister" thing as I apparently never saw that movie…
Well it does say "big time spoiler" in the sub-title… as someone who hasn’t seen any of this latest season save one episode, I prodeeded with the foreknowledge I might learn something I didn’t want to yet…
"Big Time Spoiler" is about as clear as you can get, Elayne.
Sorry, my eyes glossed right over the subtitle/deck, which doesn't show up on the RSS feed anyway…
S P O I L E R (ok, Elayne?)So I guess you folks have heard that Catherine Tate – annoying comedy person and star of the last DW Christmas special – has signed up to be the new companion for the next season, with Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones) returning later. Not sure how much of the new series you've seen (or downloaded :-) ) but I can recommend 'Blink' (4th from last) and the two-parter that precedes it as particularly fine Doctor Who fare. The least said about the last episode the better!Be gentle with us about the Daleks take Manhattan (the Bronx…and Staten Island too) episodes.
