I loved Dune in the movie theater, but watching it on TV puts me to sleep. So does Blue Velvet. Kubrick, on the other hand, is a genius, even when he's not at his best.

I never saw the original Theatrical version of Dune, but to me it is a bit like Blade Runner, if the director had not been able to remaster his own work it wouldn't be on every top 10 sci-fi list. Dune was a monsterous challenge, so much of the plot relies on believing in the prophecy that if you stray from Herbert's storyline even a little you end up risking major offense to hard core fans — I for one need to shut the movie off before it starts 'miraculously' raining.

Loved Dune; the flick and the book. They were both great. I don't need a movie to be just like a book. I enjoyed the changes.

DUNE is fantastic. Toto's best album. Lynch's best sets and costumes. This version had the perfect Feyd-Rautha.
