I'm confused by the duck. [Howard? Donald? Destroyer?] I guess this is a cover image to this "Color Saga" and we will find out what the duck is about later. Is the "Color Saga" a reference to the Rainbow Bridge? Or were early issues of "Hammer of the Gods" published in Black and White and this was (when first published) something other than that? I know that some of this is reworking and re-presenting material that has seen publication elsewhere. How old is the "Color Saga" compared to some of what we just read? It's hard to place and describe, but this doesn't seem as powerful, confident, bold or mature as the last splash pages or the love scene with Modi and Skogul that we just saw. I'm not saying that this isn't good. I've seen too little to make a judgment about that. But this seems to have a very different tone, a different flavor to the lines, figures and story.

Bifrost is indeed the Rainbow Bridge – and it plays a part in the Color Saga. HAMMER was first published as a web daily in color. Next came a series of black & white comic books that were later colored, collected and released as the MORTAL ENEMY graphic novel. COLOR SAGA was a "clever" reference to the fact that it was both the first color HAMMER story as well as actually being a story about color. The entire story was inspired when, at the Pittsburgh Comic Con, Marc Nathan, the man who brings us the BALTIMORE COMIC CON each year, asked Mike Oeming to draw Modi as a Duck. When the drawing was done I looked over Mike's shoulder and said, "Hey look! It's MODUCK!" And within moments Mike and I had spun out the story that became COLOR SAGA. This and the fragments from last week were done right after the MORTAL ENEMY epic.Next week the entire duck thing will become clear.
