It’s not the Cartoon Network that’s Disney’s main rival (or the major powerhouse of the kid’s demographic), it’s Nickelodeon. Cartoon Network is an arm of Ted Turner. Nickelodeon is Viacom.

I caught a bit of Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes yesterday. It was solid stuff. The animation was a little stiff, but the plot and dialog were pretty good.

Comparing apples to apples, I think CN is a bigger competitor for Disney’s Marvel cartoons than Nickelodeon. Other than Avatar, which ended a year or so ago as far as I know, I have no idea what Nickelodeon might have that compares to Disney or CN’s superhero cartoons.

While Disney has these new Marvel cartoons, CN has Ben 10, which is awesome and entertaining for any age as well as a several-years-old and firmly established cartoon/toy/comic franchise, and the DC cartoons most of which I believe are in their 3rd season. I’m not really a DC fan, so I haven’t seen much of them but what I have seen seemed to be pretty well done.
