"But from beginning to end, it all could have been better."

Pretty much an applicable comment to any movie, book or CD.

I just try to be happy with the better ones, regretful over the ones that are *almost* there ... and ignore the really poor ones.

I just finished th movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm not sure why you don't like the character designs, Superman looked plenty powerful to me. I really like the Ultraman and Johnny Quick designs, I think they're both my favorite takes on the characters.

One thing though, the regular DVD version doesn't include the Spectre story. That's a shame.

Judging by that still, Superwoman looks like Xena with PMS.

I don't understand what you mean by that.

Her outfit design wasn't my favorite, but the character herself looked good. Powerful, with an expressive face.

If you still have the receipt, I'd return it and pay the difference on the 2 DVD Special Edition fi I were you! Gary Cole as the voice of Jim Corrigan/The Spectre supplied the proper film noir Mike Hammer cynicism to Corrigan and a delicious sense of menace to The Spectre. I saw the "Under the Hood" promo and I look forward to that coming out this summer! Bruce Greenwood will probably provide the best Batman voice since Kevin Conroy! His voice in the preview came off as an older, more world-weary Caped Crusader who would love to "break the rules" and kill The Joker but he fears ending up being worse than The Clown Prince of Crime if he takes that path.

Overall this is a decent flick, and this could be a possible addition to your comic nostalgia library. I do have an issue with who was cast for the voice actors, really the voices didn't fit the characters.

Other than casting an older actor for Superman, although Mark Harmon provided the perfect heroic pitch to the character, and not using Kevin Conroy for Batman AND Owlman (especially during the Batman/Owlman fight scene) despite James Woods' juicy read as "The Smartest Villain in the CSA," I thought everyone did a good job. I was particularly turned on by Gina Torres' Superwoman voice! I've never heard a "bad girl" sound sexier!!!

Not a bad script, but I am horribly disappointed that they didn't use the voices of the original cast. I will not buy the next one without Kevin Conroy, etc.
