Today's collection of items may not be worth a post of their own, but may be of interest:
- An online Heath Ledger fan club has put up an online petition calling for Warner Brothers to withdraw the role of the Joker from Batman movies once and for all. They already have over 2,000
supporters"freaks." They're also on YouTube, Facebook and Flickr. - The Battlestar Galactica prequel spinoff Caprica will be available on DVD and as a digital download on April 21 of this year but will not air until the show is ready to launch on SciFi-- a full year later. Caprica, which will lay the groundwork for a 22-episode series scheduled to launch in 2010, is executive produced by BSG's Ronald D. Moore and David Eick and Remi Aubuchon (24) and stars Eric Stoltz, Esai Morales and Polly Walker.
- Blambot presents the grammar of comic book lettering.
- Danica McKellar (The Wonder Years, The West Wing) will become lead math correspondent for the weekly Science Channel series Brink, joining host Josh Zepps. Danica graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a degree in mathematics, is co-author of a published proof, and wrote two math books for junior high girls, called Math Doesn't Suck: How to Survive Middle-School Math and not Break a Nail and Kiss My Math.
- The CW is collaborating with publisher Alloy Entertainment on a one-hour drama pilot adapted from the book series "The Vampire Diaries". Kevin Williamson (Scream) will write and executive produce, working alongside Julie Plec (Kyle XY). If the CW wanted vampires, why couldn't they bring Buffy or Angel back?

Because the stars of those two shows are waaaaay too expensive at this point? And many of them are busy with other things, particularly the star of the latter show a) who isn't leaving Bones any time soon and b) whose double-chin won't convince anybody that he's an immortal vampire anymore......

Over at Quick Stop Entertainment, the first round of songs in the Masters of Song Fu songwriting competition are in and ready for your vote!

ComicMix Favorite, Neil Innes (of the Bonzo Dog Band) has turned in a song called, "Imitation Song (Ron Nasty's Last Song)". This is significant, because Ron Nasty is the character Innes played in "The Rutles." I think this makes this song an official unofficial Rutles Tune!
Other notables in the competition, Song Fu Masters Paul & Storm have a hilarious song called "Hippie with a Djembe." Bad Djembe playing has never made me laugh this hard before.
One of the challengers is Hank Green, of the Vlog Brothers and Nerd Fighters. You say, "I've never heard of the guy!" Well, he and his brother (writer John Green) have 60,000+ subscribers on YouTube and 2,000,000+ views on their videos. He's a star on YouTube. His song, "The Deep Sea Anglerfish," is very fast and has a bouncy TMBG flair.
But Molly Lewis (SweetAfton23) is kicking all the Challengers' butts in the vote. Seriously, out of 20 challengers, Molly has 50+% of the votes! Her song "I Pity the (Song) Fu" is a tribute to Mr. T. It's a clever, witty song that will appeal to anyone who loves Mr. T or dislikes Nancy Grace.
But you should go and vote for "The Happy Walking Song," by me. Mine isn't the best song, but my ego is the most fragile! And I need the votes.
BTW, Glenn, who do I have to bribe to become the official troubadour of ComicMix.com? Or does Mark Wheatley already have that job?

Not to take anything away from Heath Ledger's performance, for the next actor will have a challenge before him in performing the role to everyone's satisfaction. But the thing I wonder about in regards to Batman: The Dark Knight is how much of what was on the screen Ledger and how much was writing, directing, make up, etc. After all, movies (like comic books) are the result of the entire creative team's efforts combined. Now if they were discussing the comic book version, I would agree that creative personnel do tend to over use the character, which in time lessens the dramatic impact of any Joker appearance.
But what I want to know (if I can ask) is how did you produce the strike out within the text?

Lee, you can do strikethrough text with the HTML command STRIKE or S. It's like the boldface or italics codes that are allowed in ComicMix comments. Unfortunately, the STRIKE command isn't supported in the ComicMix Comments box. So you can't play with it in comments.
