" I’d rather spend money on overhead projectors for museums than the war in Iraq."
As ever, Martha, you nailed it. I'd rather spend money on air guitar lessons in Thai--or (nearly) ANYthing other than propagating that horrid entanglement,

OK, call me what you will, but for reasonably progressive, fee-thinking people, is there a choice among the candidates this year? Macbeth scares the X*!% out of me and his "I Can See For Miles" running mate has displayed her true colors enough to nauseate (and alienate) even those who were struggling to like her.

A refugee of more than a few of these contests, I am just not yet willing to swoon for one who professes such an avowed attachment to change. Been there, done that, and been burned before. Yet, the ever-present idealistic romantic hopeful ember remains.

There is no choice here.

As a girl who just lost her job last week in one of those nightly news corporate layoffs so common right now..with little hope of real prospects present...I still want a candidate who embodies my ideals and will act quickly so a cardboard box is not my near term residence. Will Obama come through? Right now, a rocket pack to jet me to a warmer climate with fruity adult beverages wearing few articles of clothing would certainly pork my barrel!
pennie,
once again tilting at windmills fueled by solar energy...

Personally, I'm glad we never got jetpacks and flying cars. People drive badly enough in a two-dimensional road system - can you imagine the wrecks you'd get with *three*?

I think a letter in our local paper nailed the foreign policy problem for Palin - the writer drives past Whidbey Island NAS every day on the way to work, and wants to know when he'll be getting his multi-engine jet pilot license...

(For that matter, I can see the Moon from my house - does that mean I'm a qualified astronaut?)

I just found my new bumper sticker! Thanks, Martha!

"Screw the banks...where's my jetpack?"
