Mark Millar Wants to Write Superman Movie
Claims He's Been Approached By A Director
Mark Millar is heating up in the eyes of Hollywood in the wake of Wanted's success so it’s no surprise to see him interviewed all over the place, including, most recently, G4. Mark is also given to shameless self-promotion and has discussed his business dealings so the news media has repeatedly pick up on his claims and treat them us news. As is often the case, it's Mark shilling for himself and making noise. Such may be the case with his latest interview where he spitballed his ideas for a Superman film.
Now, Mark has clearly indicated his desire to write a Superman movie for several years now and he’s trying to stake his claim now that Warner Bros. has essentially apologized for Superman Returns by going in a different direction, without Bryan Singer attached.
He told Blair Butler, "I've had this plan for like 10 years for a big three-picture Superman thing, like a Lord of the Rings epic, starting over from scratch again with a seven-hour Superman story. One to be released each year."
Until Warner Bros. issues a confirming press release, take Mark’s comments with a grain of salt.

God, keep him the hell away from Superman. Let him work on Wanted 2-that should keep him busy enough.

If you don't want to KILL the Superman movie francise, don't let Millar write the screenplay.

Millar tries to pull this crap all the time---trying to take publicity from one subject and redirect it to himself.
As stated right here, right on this very same internet, DC will not allow a Marvel guy to write a DC movie. It's not going to happen.

Though DC may have that sentiment, and I don't blame them, if Warner Bros. wants to commission Mark Millar to work on a property that they own the rights to, not much DC can say about it.
I don't think he's the best of choices, though some of his work I've liked, it can't get much worse than the last one - short of Schumacher being at the helm.

The biggest mistake DC can make right now is to make another Superman or Batman movie that rehashes the origin story. How many times does the world need to see Clark Kent running at superspeed through cornfields?
I think Singer should have been given another chance. He had plans to up the action, and that's all he needed to do.

My thoughts -- any future Supes movie should tie-in to the current Batman franchise. Yes, on the surface meta-humans would be out of place in the Nolanverse, but isn't that the point ?

Don't assume a reboot need follow the 'Superman the movie' template of a long drawn out origin story, Rather take the 'Action Comics No 1' route where the origin is sketchy, say show us the explosion of Kyrpton to Kansas cornfield as snapshots behind the opening titles, and launch directly into an adult Superman in costume being super, He doesn't need to know where he came from to say hey I'm super I'm going to be hero, he just needs to a be a real man. Discovering who he is and his limits can be part of the journey.
