Rick, I have avoided "A Passage to India" since it came out because of the revised ending. I am very fond of the original book and took exception to the idea that Forster’s ending needed fixing. However, I simply love both "Lawrence" and "River Kwai". Am I being too stubborn? Should I give in and watch it?

Well, I would never comment on your stubborness or lack of same, but I do think Lean's "Passage" is well worth a look, considering what the scripter/director accomplished with the other 160 minutes of the film. Besides, he didn't fix it ... he made a movie which many felt reflected well upon the source material, and, to my mind, at least, left the ending open for interpretation.
