10 Marvel Series That That Should Be Revived... Or Should They?
What, no 'Man-Thing'?

Even if you're the sort of comics fan who only dips a toe in the murky waters of industry news, it's hard not to get soaked by the Merry Marvel Marketing Machine these days -- especially when it comes to the InterWebs.
What's surprising, however, is that the crew over at Marvel.com is providing some genuinely interesting and/or fun content every now and then, and not just treating their website as a place to post press releases. (Although the constant barrage of "Who Do You Trust" promos is starting to make my teeth hurt.) If you can wade through all of the Skrull hype, there are some decent interviews and fun features to be found at the "House of Ideas" online HQ -- and this one, a list of 10 series that Marvel's "Secret Cabal" would like to revive, is one of them.
9. DAZZLER
Previous Runs: DAZZLER (1981-1985)

Why It Should Be Brought Back: "Does this really need any explanation? Enchantress! Doom! Galactus! Roller Skates! A movie!!! Who else in the Marvel U has had a biopic? No one! Canceled right when it was getting good—and after being trained by the X-Men…and defeating them—the exploits of Alison Blaire were carried on in the pages of UNCANNY X-MEN until she ran off to settle down. But this songbird is a free spirit and she must fly. Her powers have never properly been used to their greatest extent, nor has Marvel's only diva been given her real chance to—pun alert—shine. I know why this caged bird sings…she needs her ongoing series!!!" –Secret Cabal member RunawayJ
Spotlight Comic: UNCANNY X-MEN #130 Dazzler makes her star-studded debut, aiding the X-Men against the Hellfire Club.
Even though I'm not eagerly anticipating a Dazzler revival, I admire the tenacity, RunawayJ. Here's hoping you get your wish.

I took a look at the list, and of the ten, I would like to see Alpha Flight (if done by John Byrne) and Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. (if done by Jim Steranko).
The rest can rest in peace. ;-)

In all honesty, Dazzler is the only one with any market potential. Sure all the other titles will go over big within the comics community. But Dazzler if done in today's market place, and done right, could easily spawn an entire industry into itself. If I was in charge, I'd launch the series with a viral appearance of Alison Blaire on American Idol or Dancing with the Stars. She sings, does her light stuff, and walks off. Then later she gets her own weekly show, clothing line, etc. I'd play her as if she was real, not a character. Behind the Music the whole thing.
The real problem with that list is that Dakota North. That girl deserves it all.

I meant the problem is that they left off Dakota North.

I like the character, but I liked the character a whole lot more when she was penned by her creator... who's just written a couple Munden's Bar stories, by the way.

From your lips to God's (or Joe Q's) ears.

Not to mention Jerry Bruckheimer.

Really? Martha owns a piece of Dakota North? Damn, I gotta be nicer to her...
M. Sean McManus (1:22 PM on Sun Mar 23, 2008)
Does she? Wait-- when does the marvel ownership run out? Does it rub out?

What? No love for It, The Living Colossus? Or the Rocket Racer? Or Razorback?

Didn't Dwayne McDuffie already put out something about black superheroes and the use of skateboards?

I love Dr. Strange, but I prefer to remember him the way he was, and no Nick Fury story could ever top "What if Sgt. Fury Had Fought World War II in Outer Space?"
Mike Gold (1:47 PM on Sun Mar 23, 2008)
There have been interesting and successful stabs at both Dr. Strange and Nick Fury since their great runs (Ditko and Steranko, respectively), but there have been few great REGULAR runs, in my opinion. I like the idea of keeping them active in the Marvel Universe supporting cast and whipping out a mini-series only when somebody has a truly solid story -- with a beginning, a middle, and an end.
But, of course, I like all others believe that I have the perfect Dr. Strange story. And the perfect Nick Fury story. And the perfect Ant-Man story, and...

Dazzler was a joke when she first appeared. I have no idea why Marvel didn't let her die with Disco. Submariner needs a book. Unfortunately every one who does a Subby book wants to do it in a way that's completely wrong. Invaders is a good team but with all stories like that that we know the final fate of these characters. There's not a lot of drama.
