Netflix has only a 1959 musical. Any opinions on that?

Oh, yeah: The 1959 LI'L ABNER is a gem -- well attuned to Al Capp. Stubby Kaye is a standout.

The 1940 LI'L ABNER movie can be found at www.oldies.com -- and also in various dollar-store DVD editions. These, like the Viking Video cassette edition of the '80s, come from the Astor Pictures theatrical reissue of the later '40s and '50s.

There also has been (during the late '80s or early '90s) a videocassette collection of the ABNER cartoons -- issued as an offshoot of the Kitchen Sink Press series of strip reprints.
