Wally Cox rules!
Forget that god awful looking CGI pup we’ve seen in the movie trailers. The one, true Underdog will be collected on a three volume DVD box set this summer. Released by Genius Products, under license from Classic Media, the $29.98 collection will feature digitally re-mastered episodes with Wally Cox (the voice of Underdog) sounding better than ever. Not only that, the DVDs will collect the 1960s television series as originally broadcast so fans can delight in the additional escapades of Hunter, Go Go Gophers, Klondike Kat, Tennessee Tuxedo, King and Odie, Tootie Turtle and Commander McBragg. The release date has been listed as both July 24 and August 6 while the god awful-looking CGI movie opens on August 4.
Trivia point: did you know that the meek, sheepish Wally Cox once was Marlon Brando's roommate? Underdog, indeed!

I think there's only one hope for the movie; somehow, probably involving photos, video, and blackmail, Don Rosa is suddenly given full edit control and reworks it into a Captain Kentucky and Cleo movie.

I HAVE WAITED YEARS FOR RELEASE OF UNDERDOG TO COME OUT,I FOUND THREE DVDS CALLED UNDERDOG CHRONICLES,COLLECTERS EDITION & UNDERDOG NEMESIS, THESE THREE DVDS ALL TOGETHER HAVE ONLY 8 EPISODES THATS IT! THAT IS A DISSAPOINTMENT THAT CLASSIC MEDIA HAD ONLY PUT THOSE OUT!! I AM HOPING THAT THEY ARE RELEASING ALL EPISODES THIS TIME & NOT TRY TO PUT WHAT I HAVE TOGETHER AS A SET CALLING IT WHATEVER? I NOTICE WITH SOME STUDIOS THEY DO THINGS THAT JUST DONT MAKE SENCE AT ALL!! WHAT I LIKE TO SEE HAPPEN WITH ALL STUDIOS IS TO PUT OUT COMPLETE TV SERIES CARTOONS ETC, ALL AT ONCE NOT WATING FOR MONTHS & YEARS UNTIL THE NEXT SEASON COMES OUT, TIME LIFE/HBO DID THE RIGHT THING BY RELEASING GET SMART ALL 5 SEASONS AT ONCE AS A BOX SET GOOD JOB DONE TIME LIFE & HBO!!!! IT IS MY HOPES THAT CLASSIC MEDIA WILL BE RELEASING ALL EPISODES OF UNDERDOG & NOT WHAT THEY ALL READY HAVE RELEASED WHICH IS ONLY 8 EPISODES ON THREE DISCS THAT IS 2 ON ONE, THREE ON EACH OTHER DISC! FOR WHAT I PAID FOR UNDERDOG CHRONICLES,UNDERDOG NEMESIS & COLLECTORS EDITION SHOULD HAVE GIVEN ME EVERY EPISODE OF THE SHOW!!I WILL BE KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON WHAT THEY WILL BE DOING IF THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO PUT ALL THREE TOGETHER OF WHAT I ALREADY HAVE CALLING IT WHATEVER WITH ONLY 8 EPISODES TOTAL, I MAY HAVE BEEN TAKEN ONCE BUT NOT A SECOND TIME AROUND ON ANYTHING!! Remember the godawal Rocky&Bullwinkle and George of the Jungle movies? Now remember the cool merchandising? I got the cool stuffed Bullwinkle,Rocky,Peabody&Sherman,etc toys CVS put out as well as the great "George" plush toys at the Disney store. I see Underdog having great retro stuff (pun intended) toys too. To Underdog properly released on DVD to coincide with the movie is very cool. I expect the cartton to turn up on Disney Channel any day now. If you reading this go to Amazon and find the book How Underdog was Born a thin paperback that traces the history of Total Television and the meaning of the line Not bird not plane not even frog It's just little old me Underdog.
