Okay, I understand that Jon was less than happy with Maggie, but was it really necessary for him to run in and punch her in the face? I mean, that's not exactly a manly nor heroic thing to do, since he must outweigh her by about 100 pounds and also, he's a trained fighter.

Seems like a fair move to me. It would be sexist for him to treat her any differently than he would a male in the same situation. It's not a domestic dispute, she's a thief and there are bodies left and right. I punch in the face seems pretty small in the scope of it.

Sorry if this sounds misogynistic, but I sorta liked the bit with he punched her in the jaw. :)
I saw FOOL'S GOLD recently and there was a bit where Kate Hudson clobbered McConaughey square in the face with a wooden cane. It was supposed to be funny, but it looked like it abuse to me. All of I could think of was "if a man did that to a woman ..."
Similarly, I expect if Maggie had punched Jon, no one would have mentioned it. In fact, it's a bit of a Grell-ism to have the female lead punch out her leading man from time to time (Tara on Morgan, Dinah on Ollie, ... come to think of it, Dinah on Morgan too :).
Not that it makes it right, but I rather enjoyed the turnabout. Besides, Maggie's tough , if anyone could beat Sable in a fair fight, it would probably be The Cat.

slegge is right about the Grell-ism of the female lead punching out the leading man. Check out "Shaman's Tears" #1 (page 9) from the ComicMix site!

That scene features TWO Grell Cliches! The female lead (Sadie) punching out the male lead (Joshua Brand) AND the gratuitously naked female character!

Geez, Martha, where were you when we were torturing Jon Sable for the previous three installments?
