Sigh. Someone else to make one forget Maggie the Cat (or just plain Maggie Q).
Almost, but not quite.
Don't quite remember seeing this one (what's her name?) in any of the JSF series (First or IDW).

Why is it, Grell draws such gorgeous women?

Why is the Black Goddess character gratuitously bare breasted? That seems to be a theme of this Sable story, the gratuitously nude female. Is it an expression of the editorial freedom that presenting a comic online gives Mike Grell? How many of the female characters in this story have not stripped naked for Jon? It wouldn't be so bad, except all the females seem to have the same archetypal, "hot" body. Except for hairstyle, skin tone and a few slight facial feature variations, they are the same woman, completely interchangeable. Does Grell only know one nude model?

Is the point that this Goddess is some manifestation of Jon's need for violence, vengeance, retribution and justice because of the death of his family, some kind of love affair with death? Is the Black Goddess some kind of avatar for Jon's being almost sexually drawn towards danger and death? I am trying to be open minded here, trying to give some justification for this character to be naked and draping herself all over Jon.

I'm not against sex in a comic, especially not when it serves the story. I just don't see the point of this.
