In Green Lantern's case, Hal Jordan has to overcome his selfishness and self pity over the death of his father Martin Jordan which takes place early in the script. Hal Jordan for the first 20 pages or so is a prick.Lessee – the Japanese swiped GL's origin for their "Lensman" movie; now Hllywood plans to swipe SpiderMan's for their GL film?

Oh yes, that Peter Parker was SUCH a selfish prick before he was bitten by that nice spider and caused the death of his gentle Uncle Ben! Nothing like the swell guy that Tony Stark was before taking shrapnel to his chest…

Great if this project gets off the ground. But Finger and Nodell created Alan Scott, and 1940 would be the Golden Age, Hal Jordan was introduced a lot later, during the silver age in 1959,then introduced by Gill Kane and John Broome.

"The film, which still lacks a cast although Berlanti remains on board to direct, will feature Hal Jordan, the Silver Age incarnation of the character first created in 1940 by Martin Nodell and Bill Finger."Uh… wasn't the Green Lantern created by Martin Nodell and Bill Finger the Golden Age Green Lantern named Alan Scott?

    • Linda Gold says:

Yes, what the article says is that Hal Jordan is the Silver Age version of that character not that Hal Jordan was created by Nodell and Finger.

Also, (while I think a movie based on Alan Scott could be very good) the potential audience for this movie will relate better to Hal Jordon or another of the Green Lantern Corps characters due to the comics, cartoons, and merchandising of the characters.
