It’s only letting me vote for one comic, is it supposed to work that way?

  2. Glenn, I did try sending an email requesting this a week ago, but I guess it wasn’t looked at? :(

Veronica and I feel that Bittersweet Candy Bowl should no longer be a part of this competition after having won in 2013. It seems like a nice tradition after the winners from 2012 made the same decision to “retire”. So, no matter what, everybody please go on and vote Dr. McNinja, and good luck to every other comic that’s up here!

    Same here.

I’m sorry that I have to ask, but why is my comic Boumeries the only one without a link?

Just wanted to leave a comment that it would be nice if paid votes showed in the total. I was thinking of buying votes for a comic, but it looks like it is winning; however, I have no way of knowing if that’s actually true. It seems weird not to give people an actual depiction of the polls to base their financial decision on.

We’ve been trying to make a way for that to happen, it’s not easy on The Hero Initiative either to keep track of all the contributions. The problem is non-trivial technically, combined with the problem that if ComicMix does the fund collection instead of Hero, the donations stop being tax-deductible. We keep trying to find ways around that.

We also know that we’d get a lot more money raised, but at a certain point it also becomes a problem of buying wins outright. Granted, this is all for fun, the money goes to charity, and it’s not like there’s anything more at stake than bragging rights– but you’d be amazed how fierce some of the fighting can get and how many people’s feelings get hurt when they feel their votes become less and less significant.

Just as a heads up. The link to Spindrift isn’t working in the brackets (it links to “http://www.bracketmaker.com/spindrift-comic.com/lore-race” instead of http://www.spindrift-comic.com

  7. Ed Dunphy says:

I just realized that the voting this round is NOT anonymous. Awkward…

  8. Pylgrim says:

    Where is Gunnerkrigg Court?!

  9. Don Edwards says:

It would be nice to provide a list of comics whose authors (or accepted representatives) have asked to not be included in the voting.

Hey, I mentioned this on a previous post, but it’s still not in the directory – I do a comic called Decrypting Rita, about a robot lady who’s dragged outside of reality by her ex-boyfriend. Can we get it in the directory so it’ll maybe show up in the brackets next year?

Just a note about the image at the top of the page. It still says 2013 tournament. Isn’t this the 2014 tournament?

[…] ComicMix is doing their annual webcomic faceoff. Their page is slow at the best of times so be patient with it. They’re obviously severely overloaded at the moment – that or some script they’re running on their page is wrecking Chrome. You don’t need to log in or create an account within the brackets, you actually vote below all the brackets with inconveniently non-alphabetical list.  Vote for as many comics as you like, so have at it if you’re sufficiently patient to put up with their site. As I recall last year, Grrl Power made it either to the quarter or semi finals, losing finally to Ava’s Demon. It’d be cool to at least match that this year! […]
